Brief History

SHARIFF KABUNSUAN COLLEGE, Inc. is a recognized higher institution in the Philippines. It was officially founded on September 17, 1986 by a group of educators led by its late president, Bai Cabaybay D. Abubakar. Originally, SKC is just like any secular school in the region. But with the helped of Muslim friends, the college gradually become a school of process with Islamic ethos.

The lady president have thought of developing the college into a truly Islamic institution in the Bangsamoro homeland, that can help prepare a generation of Muslim intellectuals, who are qualified both academically and spiritually, to begin the long process of rebuilding the Muslim Ummah/communities, and restoring it to a position of high honor and respect. The program has not yet manifested itself completely (as the college is not yet fully develop), but it has started bearing fruits and make a difference.

Considering the major role of education in any socio-cultural reforms and the value system as envisioned by the president, it was imperative to surge an intellectual reform in the field of education to deal with the urban environment of 90% Muslim populace. The college is also participating in some activities on human rights issues, women and children’s concerns, promotion of Islam and democracy and other related programs towards peace and developments.

With the new direction of the college, a new VMG was developed. The new VMG might be high and ambitious, but the dream must come true, to make the Shariff Kabunsuan College a History in the Making.
